City Councilman Tim Leigh is a native of Grand Forks, North Dakota. He first migrated to Colorado Springs by way of an army enlistment and subsequent assignment to Fort Carson in 1975. After a 3 year tour of duty, he returned to Grand Forks where he attended the University of North Dakota, earning his BSBA in marketing.
Realizing how cold and dark North Dakota winters really were, he quickly returned to Colorado Springs where he has since lived, worked, invested and built a successful business, has raised his family and since 1983 has enjoyed a career in real estate sales.
Concurrent with his duties on City Council, Mr. Leigh continues to work full-time as a real estate broker with Hoff & Leigh, Inc., a company he founded in 1987. He is consistently one of the area's Top Producing real estate sales professionals. He was the recipient of the 2010 Co-Star Power Broker Award and was the area's Best Metro Business Leader in 2005. His widely read weekly column, "Tim Leigh's Market Report" covers a variety of topics from business, economics, politics, real estate, and about life in general.
Mr. Leigh has been active in the community serving on many service boards. He is a member of the CSLI Class of 2008. He is a past member of The Salvation Army Board, receiving the prestigious Order of the Red Kettle. He is a past Chairman of the Boy Scouts, the Pikes Peak Council’s capital campaign, and he was The Scout Leader of the Year in 2008. He is a past member of The Chamber of Commerce Board and has been a Major Investor with the Economic Development Corporation. He has coached high school varsity hockey and has enjoyed mentoring high school students.
He's the duck pond guy, the bike lane guy, the Prospect Lake Beach House guy and the downtown sports arena guy. His supervening message is, "We need to enhance the culture in Colorado Springs so it naturally attracts the young creative class."
