HISTORY:
1983: Bob Hoff & Tim Leigh, the founders of Hoff & Leigh, Inc. began working together as commercial property leasing agents in a small office on South Tejon Street, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Employed by Jenkins & Martin Management Company, the early days found the partners sharing a desk, a phone and a car. It should be noted that Mr. Hoff owned the car and that the passenger side window never worked. Mr. Leigh was always heard to be wet, cold or both! On the other hand, Mr. Hoff’s door was seen to open at will when a sharp right turn was made. It has been observed by many that it was a miracle that the partners survived! And, survive they did! In fact, the partners were very successful in their business and in most months, they would complete at least one commercial real estate transaction every day! This prosperity lead to the need for growth and change, which occurred in 1985.
1985: While Hoff was enjoying a summer-long vacation to Kodiak Island, Alaska, Leigh was planning their new company start up. He designed new signs, logos, advertising slicks and a comprehensive marketing plan which were to be implemented while Hoff was out of town. Buck Blessing inadvertently discovered Leigh’s work and after prolonged negotiations, entered an agreement where Griffis & Blessing, (then a newcomer, but now Colorado’s largest property management company) would hire Hoff & Leigh. When Hoff returned from his vacation, he joined Leigh and went to work at his new office near Colorado College embracing the new affiliation with Griffis & Blessing. To this day, Griffis/Blessing, Inc. enjoys the use of the blue & green signs originally designed for Hoff & Leigh!
1987: Griffis/Blessing’s decision to exit the commercial leasing and sales business put Hoff & Leigh back in the start up process. They had to design new signs, logos, advertising slicks and create a new marketing plan. It was at that time that the commanding Red & White signs, which dominate the Colorado Springs market, were introduced. Hoff & Leigh has been in continuous operation since August 1, 1987 and is now the oldest, continuously operating commercial real estate brand in Colorado Springs.
Hoff & Leigh’s plan was simple. Their plan was to focus on becoming experts at property leasing in two small target markets, the offices surrounding the north end of downtown and the warehouses on the south side of Colorado Springs. Their plan was to niche market, and thereby, to build a nice, small, prosperous, commercial property leasing business. Their plan was to become connected to their customer by focusing on the customer’s need for proactive marketing & superior communication. Their plan was very successful!
2003: In December, 2003 Mr. Leigh bought-out Mr. Hoff’s interest in the company and Mr. Hoff moved into semi-retirement. At that time, Tim Leigh became the President and sole owner of Hoff & Leigh, Inc.
2004: Hoff & Leigh’s success led to continued expansion, market share marketing and the creation of a full service real estate brokerage. According to the Colorado Springs Business Journal, based on the number of transactions completed, Hoff & Leigh, Inc. was, and continues to be the area’s most active commercial real estate brokerage.
TODAY:
Hoff & Leigh employs 7 full-time, professional real estate brokers whose production exceeds $50,000,000 in annual sales volume. Hoff & Leigh’s unique selling proposition is that its team-members collectively make more customer contacts than any other commercial real estate company in the Colorado Springs market.
Hoff & Leigh has been selected by the Colorado Springs Business Journal as the area’s "Best Commercial Real Estate Leasing & Sales Company" & the "Best Commercial Real Estate Management Company"! Hoff & Leigh’s full-time Managing & Employing Broker is Mr. Tim Leigh; the Corporate Controller is Mrs. Jackie Ames; the full-time Property Manager is Mrs. Julie Brooks; and the administrative assistants are Mrs. Brea Pattison. Hoff & Leigh’s corporate accountant is Wiechmann, Boyce & Associates.
